Manage storage for iPhone dashcam clips

Start with the recording mode

An iPhone dashcam’s storage needs depend on what it keeps. A continuous recorder may retain a sequence of files from a journey; an incident-buffer app saves selected recent moments. AyniCam uses the second approach. Plan around the clips you choose to keep, without treating its short buffer as a full-trip archive.

Check space on the phone

In Settings, open General, then iPhone Storage. Review available space and tap AyniCam to inspect its app storage. The phone’s total capacity is not the amount currently free. Check before a session and again after saving or exporting several clips.

• Keep enough room for the phone’s other apps and normal operation; this guide does not establish a universal minimum reserve.
• A Pro plan removes AyniCam’s app-imposed clip-count restriction, but it cannot increase the iPhone’s physical capacity.
• If the app reports a storage warning, resolve it before depending on another save.

Estimate from files you actually saved

AyniCam Free clips are up to 20 seconds at 720p without microphone audio. Pro supports up to 30 seconds at 1080p with optional microphone audio. These limits do not establish a fixed file size. A short or interrupted buffer may produce less footage.

1. Export several clips that represent your intended settings and actual use. Keep Free and Pro samples separate.
2. Read each exported file’s size in the receiving file manager, and note its duration and whether it includes audio. Use the original export, not a copy compressed by a messaging service.
3. Multiply your planned number of retained clips by a representative measured size, and allow extra space for variation and other phone data. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed capacity.

Account for copies as well as recordings

An export kept elsewhere on the same iPhone can consume additional space and does not protect you if that phone is lost. Decide where an important copy should live. A destination on another device or a chosen cloud service has its own transfer, access and privacy conditions. Confirm that the transfer finished and that the receiving copy plays.

Clear space without losing the clip you need

Review the start and end of an important video, then verify its exported copy before deleting the local original. Do not start by deleting AyniCam to fix a storage warning: Apple distinguishes offloading an app, which keeps its documents and data, from deleting it, which removes related data. A fresh installation is not a recovery plan for a missing local recording.

What this guide does not measure

No MB-per-minute, bitrate or “clips per gigabyte” result is presented here. We have not completed a released-app export-size study. The useful check is your own file size together with the settings, duration and available space that produced it. Keep that record if you want to compare storage after an app update.
