Why an iPhone dashcam clip has no sound
Separate silent recording modes, microphone permission and playback problems. Check AyniCam Free and Pro audio before relying on a saved incident clip.

Check whether audio was supposed to be recorded
A silent iPhone dashcam clip is not always a fault. Some apps or plans save video only. In AyniCam, Free incident clips intentionally have no microphone audio. Pro can include microphone audio with permission while the camera recording session is active. Changing the plan or permission later cannot add sound that was never captured to an existing clip.
Separate recording from playback
| What you observe | What to check next |
|---|---|
| Every video sounds silent | Check playback volume and the audio output with a video you know contains sound. |
| Only an AyniCam Free clip is silent | That is the documented video-only recording mode. |
| A Pro clip is silent | Review microphone permission and the current recording session, then check a newly saved permitted sample. |
| The original has sound but a shared copy does not | Compare the original export and the copy received by the other app before changing recording settings. |
Review microphone access
On iPhone, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and review AyniCam’s access. A green indicator can mean camera use with or without the microphone; orange indicates microphone use without the camera. These indicators do not prove that a particular saved file contains an audio track.
Check a new sample safely
Make changes while parked. For a stationary AyniCam recording check, use the documented Pro camera-active workflow; Free saving requires driving context. Do not create a road manoeuvre merely to trigger a test.
- Confirm the current plan and microphone access before beginning a fresh camera session.
- Allow available footage to build, save an incident and wait for confirmation.
- While still safely stopped, play the new clip and listen for the expected sound. Compare an exported copy if the issue appears only after sharing.
- Note the app version, iPhone, iOS, plan and any call, lock or app switch if the result differs from your expectation.
Spoken alerts and recorded audio are different
Hearing an app speak does not establish that it recorded the cabin. AyniCam’s optional Emergency Mode voice cancellation is another microphone-related function, separate from the Free/Pro clip format. Use the permissions guide and the saved file to understand the feature you enabled; avoid interpreting a voice alert as proof of an audio recording.
If the recording is still silent
Keep the original clip and describe the exact conditions when contacting support. Do not delete the app as a first troubleshooting step when it holds recordings you need. This guide does not establish call continuity, background microphone capture or compatibility with every external microphone. Consider other people’s privacy when choosing whether to record and share cabin audio.
