Camera, location and microphone permissions in AYNIcam

AYNIcam · 2026-09-08

Understand which AYNIcam features use each iPhone permission and which functions need online services.

Camera: the source of detection and recording

Camera permission lets AYNIcam show the road, run detection and record available footage. Without it, a map page is not proof that the camera pipeline is working. If the image is unavailable, check the permission and whether another interruption is affecting the camera. Verify the image before you start a recording session.

Location: driving context and online requests

Location supports driving context and map positioning. Destination search, routes and weather use online services; a request can involve your location or chosen destination. On-device camera AI does not make every app feature offline. Choose permissions with this distinction in mind and read the privacy page for the current disclosure.

Microphone: Pro clips and optional voice cancellation

Free incident clips are video-only. Pro can include microphone audio after permission is granted. Optional Emergency Mode voice cancellation also uses microphone and speech-recognition permissions when enabled. Hearing a spoken alert from the app does not by itself mean the microphone is recording; speech output and speech input are different functions.

Local clips and deliberate sharing

Saved clips stay in the app’s local storage until you choose a sharing or export action. A file sent to another app or destination follows that service’s own behaviour. Review a clip before sharing and choose its destination intentionally. Keeping a clip in the app does not provide an automatic off-device backup.

Change access without guessing

Use iOS Settings to review AYNIcam’s permissions. If you revoke one, expect the dependent feature to become unavailable or limited. After changing camera or microphone access, reopen the app and make a short permitted test while parked. Confirm image and expected audio in Clips; do not infer successful recording from the presence of a map or a button.
