Getting started with AyniCam

Can I use my iPhone as a dashcam with AyniCam?

Yes. AyniCam turns a compatible iPhone into a dashcam app that saves recent incident footage and detects supported road objects on the device. It is free to download on iOS 17 or later, with an optional AYNI Pro subscription. You need a secure mount, available storage and the app’s camera session running. Choose it for selected incident clips; it does not promise continuous, screen-locked or unattended overnight recording.

Which iPhones can run AyniCam?

The current App Store release is AyniCam 2.0.1 for iPhone, requiring iOS 17.0 or later. The App Store checks whether your device can install it. OS compatibility alone is not a performance guarantee: model choice, camera workload, temperature and storage can affect the experience. No device-by-device physical benchmark is published here.

Is AyniCam available for Android?

The official download linked by AyniCam is the iPhone App Store listing, app ID 6788975253. We have not identified an official Android release or APK in the current product records. An APK cannot install the iPhone app. Use the official listing and contact support if you need help identifying the correct product.

Can I try AyniCam without subscribing?

Free includes the nawnaw detector and the four detector-family views: Detection, Maps, Virtual and Parking. Voice alerts and optional Emergency Mode are available in Free and Pro. You do not need Pro simply to open 3D Maps. Model choice can change which page appears, so a missing view is not automatically a subscription restriction.

Can I use an older iPhone as a dashcam?

Reusing an iPhone may make sense if it runs the app you need and its camera, battery and storage are suitable for your intended recording. “Old iPhone” is not a compatibility category: check the exact model, installed iOS and current app requirements. A successful installation alone does not establish reliable recording for the length of your journey.

Setting up your iPhone

How should I mount the iPhone?

Check compatibility and free device space, position the phone without obstructing your view, and allow the permissions needed for your selected features. Choose the model and view while parked. Review a saved clip once safely stopped. Set realistic expectations for battery, heat, interruptions and camera visibility; we have not published a physical-device endurance benchmark here.

Which permissions does AyniCam need?

Camera access is needed for the camera view and road detection. Location supports position, maps, directions and weather. Pro microphone recording needs permission; optional emergency voice confirmation has its own settings and permissions. Camera AI and saved clips are local, while maps, search, directions and weather require online requests. With a permission denied, expect the related function to be limited.

What if the camera view is blank?

Camera permission lets AYNIcam show the road, run detection and record available footage. Without it, a map page is not proof that the camera pipeline is working. If the image is unavailable, check the permission and whether another interruption is affecting the camera. Verify the image before you start a recording session.

What should I check before my first drive?

While parked, check mounting, framing, permissions, the chosen view and power. If your plan allows a stationary save, inspect a sample and its exported copy; AyniCam Free saving requires driving context. Do not handle the phone or stage a driving event for a test. Observe how your real sessions behave and review clips only when safely stopped. Record the device, iOS, app version and conditions if you compare results.

Can I choose another language?

AyniCam 2.0.1 supports 50 language and regional options for the interface and spoken driving alerts. Choose your language in the app’s Settings. Requires iPhone with iOS 17 or later.

  • Prepare before a drive
  • Languages are three separate questions

Saving and sharing incident clips

Does AyniCam record my whole journey continuously?

While recording is active, AyniCam maintains a rolling buffer. Save incident preserves the available footage leading up to the tap: Free supports up to 20 seconds at 720p in driving context; Pro supports up to 30 seconds at 1080p and allows saving while stationary. A newly started or interrupted buffer can contain less. This is not a promise of continuous full-trip recording or unattended coverage while the phone is locked.

How do Free and Pro recording limits differ?

Free saves clips up to 20 seconds at HD 720p, with an AYNI watermark and no microphone audio, in driving context. Pro offers up to 30 seconds at Full HD 1080p, a timestamp instead of the watermark, and microphone audio when permission is granted. Pro also permits saving while parked. Actual saved history depends on the available buffer.

How do I know an incident clip was saved?

When safe, use Save incident and wait for the save confirmation. A camera interruption, app switch, lock or call may affect capture; no background-recording result is claimed here. After resuming, verify that recording is active. Review the result only when parked and confirm that the intended interval was saved.

Why is my saved clip shorter than 20 or 30 seconds?

AYNIcam keeps a rolling buffer while its recording pipeline is active. Saving an incident uses recent available frames, helping retain moments before you tap. Immediately after starting or resuming the camera, less history may be available. It cannot recover a scene from before the app was recording. Set up the camera and verify the view before departure.

How do I review or share a saved clip?

Open Clips and play the new item. Check that it shows the intended moment, that the image is readable and that expected audio is present. Free clips are intentionally silent; Pro audio also needs permission and an available microphone. Use the available share or export action to keep an important copy in a destination you control.

  • Review before relying on a clip

Recording and performance troubleshooting

Will recording continue with the screen locked or another app open?

Do not rely on AyniCam recording after you lock your iPhone or switch to another app. Our documented workflow uses an active camera session; uninterrupted background or locked-screen recording has not been verified for the released app. A phone that is still powered on is not proof that its camera is still capturing.

Why does my clip have no sound?

A silent iPhone dashcam clip is not always a fault. Some apps or plans save video only. In AyniCam, Free incident clips intentionally have no microphone audio. Pro can include microphone audio with permission while the camera recording session is active. Changing the plan or permission later cannot add sound that was never captured to an existing clip.

Can I save unlimited clips?

Free gallery access is limited; Pro removes the app-imposed clip-count restriction. Both depend on available iPhone storage. Export important clips to a destination you control and verify the exported file before deleting the original. Local recording is not an automatic off-device backup. Longer clips, resolution and optional audio can affect storage use; no fixed storage or battery benchmark is claimed here.

How can I reduce heat during use?

Keep the phone out of direct sun where a safe, legal mount position allows it. Route the cable so it does not obstruct controls, and consider whether simultaneous charging is necessary for a short parked check. If the iPhone displays a temperature warning, follow its instructions and let it cool before continuing. Do not use ice or a freezer.

Why does the app use battery power?

A dashcam session can run the camera, AI, video recording, location, map rendering and a bright screen together. Charging and direct sunlight can add heat at the same time. A higher scan limit is only a ceiling, not a performance target the device must maintain. Thermal adaptation may reduce work to keep the phone within its operating limits.

  • Keep AyniCam’s camera session visible and active
  • Understand the combined workload

Understanding the 3D map

What does AyniCam’s 3D map show?

AyniCam combines a 3D street map with objects detected by your iPhone’s camera. Roads and buildings come from map data; supported vehicles and other road objects come from on-device detection. Their positions are estimates. This gives the map a different purpose from simply exploring a city: it places the camera’s interpretation of the visible road into a mapped setting.

Which road objects can AyniCam detect?

The detector supports person, bicycle, motorcycle, car, bus, traffic light and stop sign. Both nawnaw and nawnaw pro use this seven-class set. A vehicle outside these labels can be missed or assigned an imperfect label. A box around a car does not identify its make, prove which end is the front or measure its exact size.

Are the displayed object distances exact?

A drawn vehicle is a category representation. Its size, distance and direction may differ from the physical vehicle, especially when the view is partly blocked or the phone moves. A gap between rendered cars is not a measured clearance. Likewise, a stylized road or reference line does not prove that a lane marking was detected.

Why do map objects change when I change AI models?

The AI model processes the camera image. A view decides how the app presents the resulting information. With the detector family, Detection, Maps, Virtual and Parking offer different presentations without loading four independent cameras. The segmentation family exposes different outputs and opens a dedicated page.

Can I use all map functions offline?

Camera detection runs on the iPhone, but map tiles, place search, directions and weather use online services. Local AI therefore does not mean an offline navigation system. Building detail varies by mapped area. If connectivity drops, do not assume that a previously visible map means new tiles or directions are available. Prepare your route and connectivity before leaving.

  • Two layers, one driving view
  • Does the 3D map work offline?

Choosing views and AI models

How do Camera, Virtual View and Maps differ?

Detection is useful for seeing the source image with boxes. Virtual View emphasizes nearby detected categories in a simplified layout. 3D Maps adds mapped roads and buildings, navigation and weather; those buildings come from map data. Choose the presentation you find readable, and use direct observation of the road for driving decisions.

Does Parking View work like a reversing camera?

The current Parking view does not add rear cameras, a 360-degree feed or a dedicated parking-line detector. Low kerbs, objects outside the supported classes and partially hidden obstacles can be missed. Use direct checks, mirrors and the vehicle’s actual parking equipment. AYNIcam does not steer or brake the vehicle.

How does segmentation differ from detection boxes?

A detector places a rectangle around a possible object. An instance mask estimates which pixels belong to that particular object, helping separate its visible shape from the background. A mask is still a prediction: thin parts, reflections and partially hidden surfaces can be inaccurate. It is not a complete 3D model of the object.

Which AI model should I choose?

While safely stationary, keep the mount and scene unchanged and switch one model at a time. Compare useful observations, missed objects and readability as well as responsiveness after warm-up. The three-card picker contains built-in illustrative previews; these help explain output types, not prove accuracy. Choose the output you need within your own device’s thermal budget.

Why can the AI miss or misidentify an object?

Occlusion, darkness, glare, small distant objects and camera movement can change the result. A box disappearing does not mean the road is clear. Traffic-light recognition can also be uncertain: always follow the actual signal. If results become distracting, change your view or settings while safely parked. Never adjust a detection threshold or inspect small confidence values while driving.

Privacy, connectivity and spoken alerts

Does camera AI require an internet connection?

An iPhone dashcam can process camera images and save video locally without sending that footage to a cloud AI service. In AyniCam, camera AI and incident recording run on the phone, while map tiles, destination search, directions and weather use online services. Local processing does not make the entire app an offline navigation system.

Are my recorded clips automatically uploaded?

Saved clips stay in the app’s local storage until you choose a sharing or export action. A file sent to another app or destination follows that service’s own behaviour. Review a clip before sharing and choose its destination intentionally. Keeping a clip in the app does not provide an automatic off-device backup.

Can map services send data over the internet?

Location supports driving context and map positioning. Destination search, routes and weather use online services; a request can involve your location or chosen destination. On-device camera AI does not make every app feature offline. Choose permissions with this distinction in mind and read the privacy page for the current disclosure.

What spoken driving alerts can AyniCam provide?

AYNIcam can speak supported driving alerts, including nearby-object cues, traffic-light changes and traffic moving ahead. Availability depends on what the app observes and your settings. An alert is an aid to attention, not an instruction to move without checking the road. These spoken cues are available in Free and Pro.

How can I try the 3D map before a drive?

AyniCam requires iOS 17 or later. Maps is available in Free and Pro with the detector models; Pro segmentation uses a separate view. While safely parked, secure the phone, allow camera and location access, select Maps and check your area. Practise zoom and recenter controls before driving. The website demo previews the presentation with simulated objects; it is not a live camera test. Keep your attention on the road: AyniCam does not steer or brake.

  • Yes for some functions: check the feature, not just the label
  • Try the map before your next journey

Plans, limits and support

How much does Pro cost in my country?

AYNI Pro is an optional auto-renewable monthly subscription. U.S. storefront: US$9.99/month, checked September 20, 2026. Regional prices, introductory-offer eligibility and current terms appear before purchase. Restore Purchases is available.

Can I use AyniCam with CarPlay or another navigation app?

Treat each as a separate compatibility question. AyniCam’s own map functions do not prove recording continues while a different navigation app is on screen. CarPlay recording support is not established in the reviewed product documentation. A call can also affect audio or camera availability; test the exact setup while stopped.

Does Emergency Mode automatically call emergency services?

Calling and messaging tools follow iOS confirmation and availability rules. Do not assume the app silently completes a call or sends every message in the background. Network service, permissions, device state and user confirmation can matter. In an actual emergency, use the appropriate local emergency services directly when you can.

Can AyniCam steer, brake or replace driver attention?

No. AyniCam’s estimates come from the camera image; a simplified display or estimated distance is not a new camera angle. Continue using direct observation, mirrors and the vehicle’s own assistance systems as appropriate. AyniCam does not control the vehicle or guarantee detection of every obstacle.

What should I include when contacting support?

Check the iOS version, available storage, desired recording mode and current Free/Pro features. For a problem, share the app version, iOS version, device model and a description of the steps with support. Do not send private route history or video unless it is needed and you choose to share it.
